Life's a Beach

Finished painting this at the beach this morning. There was a lovely breeze coming off the sea. I did think of everyone struggling to get to work in Bangkok just as I did 6 months ago.
Come join us for a weekend of peace, quiet and cool sea breezes.

Flower Power

Just living is not enough..................... one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower
— Christian Anderson

Our gardens were started by Michael in mid December. These are some of the flowers I found this morning. It is so peaceful to pick some and bring into the studio to draw or paint.

A bird's-eye view

A short video of the retreat and surrounding area. I had no idea this was going to happen or I would have tidied a bit. Here we are 'warts and all'. A great place for all ages as you can see. Thank you Derek Stamp.

Ken on location

Ken on location at my favourite boat spot. Challenging but fun. There is no need to launch straight into oils, I have spent many hours sitting drawing boats and enjoying the fresh air. A most welcome change from bangkok.

Sunrise

unnamed.jpg

Glorious sunrises in the morning. This was taken from the studio window. Get out your brushes and come paint some of the fabulous scenery in this area of Thailand with me.
Ability is not an issue...its confidence that counts and of course there is always the large air conditioned studio to retire to if it gets too hot! Elsie

Its a Wrap

Welcome to my first Art Retreat blog. We started building in Aug 2015 and I am happy to announce I am ready for visitors!

After 30 years in Bangkok I did not hesitate at the chance to move down here. My passion is Plein air painting and here at the Retreat i am surrounded by scenery just begging to be painted. The Retreat offers gorgeous rooms, a superb garden which is maturing every week, (just like me), large bright studio, huge communal kitchen perfect for cooking classes and barnbecues and a large swimming pool amongst other amenities the retreat offers. For those of you who need a break and want to chill there are superb beaches almost a stones throw away and an abundance of markets and restaurants taking advantage of the fresh seafood and produce found in the area.

So if you need a break or find yourself in the area I look forward to seeing you. Pop in for a visit and a cup of tea or come and stay with us.

And so it begins.........

Lets start our blog as we mean to go on with some serious art related information:

Did you hear about the attempted robbery at the museum recently?

They ran out of gas a few streets away and explained to the police, "We didn't have the Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh"
